Graduate Stories
Due to this Dual Diploma pathway, I have strengthened my creativity, leadership, and time management skills, obtaining a more complete learning experience.
I am currently a first year student at the University of Toronto pursuing a double major in biochemistry and molecular biology for my bachelor’s degree. Thanks to Borderless Education and TVO ILC, I was able to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) while completing my high school diploma in Taiwan. Graduating with the OSSD is extremely helpful for me to get admitted to top universities in Canada, such as University of Toronto, McGill University, and University of Alberta.
While Taiwanese high school assignments tend to have more academic-based questions with high difficulties, TVO ILC courses are more creative and enlightening. I have learned how to write essays, deliver a speech, make infographics, or even record podcasts on my own! Due to this Dual Diploma pathway, I have strengthened my creativity, leadership, and time management skills, obtaining a more complete learning experience.
Moreover, teacher facilitators and guidance councillors from Borderless are amiable and supportive. They helped me create a personalized learning pathway and provided me with a lot of assistance on course selections and language support. I was able to manage my time effectively preparing for the Taiwnese entrance exams while applying to Canadian universities at the same time.
Being enrolled in a dual high school diploma program will not occupy your time for extracurricular activities and entertainment. I graduated as one of the top 3% students in my high school, even though I simultaneously studied both the Taiwanese and Ontario curriculums. I was also a member of the school's biology olympic training team, the leader of a scientific experimental team for the National High School Science Fair, and the president of the Model United Nations club. However, I would still save time for binge-watching numerous dramas and do whatever I love every day. You can still have time for yourself while performing well in a dual high school diploma program.
Thank you for such a wonderful learning experience!
